As it is known, was criticism of the clergymen in the works of writers such as Reşat Nuri Güntekin, Halide Edip Adıvar, Sadri Etem and Reşat Enis Aygen. In Azerbaijani literature, it was the subject of the works of writers such as Abdurrrahim Bey Hagverdiyev, Celil Memmedguluzade, Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli. Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoglu and İsmayıl Shikhly are among the most important writers of this subject. Y. K. Karaosmanoglu (1889- 1974) is one of the famous writers of Turkish Literature. The social political events of the period were reflected in the novels. The novel of Nur Baba (The Father Nur) is one of the important works of the author. İsmayıl Shikhly (1919-1995) is one of the famous authors of Azerbaijani literature. He known as a famous writer, an author of screenplays, publicist and a researcher of literature. He was the First Secretary of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers for a while 1965-1968. During 1976-1978, he was the chief editor of Azerbaijan magazine, and then he was the Chairman of Union of Azerbaijani Writers between 1981 and 1987. He was awarded by honorary title of Azerbaijan People’s Writer in 1984 and was member of Supreme Azerbaijan National Parliament. He has published many works such as story, novel, moment, translation. Such as, Doctor’s Tale (Doktorun Masalı) (1947), Divided Ways (Ayrılan Yollar) (1957), Turbulent Kura (Deli Kur) (1968), My Opponent (Rakibim) (1975), Do Not Miss Me (Beni Kaybetmeyin) (1984), My Dead World (Ölen Dünyam) (1992) and etc. In this article, was analysed the phenomenon of religion in the works of both authors. Comparative research methods was used in the study. This topic was first evaluated in the context of Azerbaijani and Turkish literature, and then the Deli Kur and Nur Baba novels were analyzed in terms of idea content.
