Summary: | Unlike the Cartesian method of analysis, which treated the elements from sectioned and fragmentary views, the city today is understood by an ever-increasing set of methods that inevitably comprise the set of representations that society establishes in relation to space and the " world lived ". The city, then, is linked and mediated from two spatial matrices, the "space of action" and the "space of representation". For this study, three (3) landscaped urban axes were identified in the city of Recife. Different compositions and questionnaires were applied for each axis, whose times and days of application were related to the characteristics of use and occupation of the axes and with the sample profile of the respondents and theoretically used three categories of neighborhoods; the central ones, like the neighborhood of Recife and Santo Antônio; those located in transition zone, with researches in the neighborhood of Santo Amaro; and suburban neighborhoods, focusing on the neighborhoods of Boa Viagem and Imbiribeira. The landscape, as an abstraction, of these axes are recorded throughout history as literary, academic and artistic expressions and reflect places of desires, folklore, habits of everyday life singular in themselves. The cutouts of the city's spaces, as abstractions, cover the other forms of landscape representations and, as generators of literary, pictorial and artistic images, generally tend to enhance and not often to caricature the marked aspects targeted, feeding representations and awakening new interpretations. Thus, the bending of this process of successive representations was illustratively analyzed throughout the treatment given to the questionnaires applied in the three (3) axes. |
