| Summary: | The trend of the increasing role of data, indicators for assessment of the states and perspectives of physical planning can be observed. The role of spatial data inventory is not decreasing, on the contrary, its role is increasing and its meaning is expanding. Also the role of cooperation between science, the profession, political structures, and the public is increasing. The reason lies in the raising of comprehensiveness, interconnectivity and complexity of planning andimplementation of spatial development policies and developmental projects. Professional and formal determinations towards evidence-based planning both in the European territory and in Slovenia are obvious, and at the EU level also the ones related toimplementation.
