The aim of this paper is to reformulate an ecological perspective on social worlds through a re-reading of some of George H. Mead’s texts and exploring his heritage amongst the post 1945 generation, generally described as the second Chicago school of sociology. The programmatic intent is an ecology of publics as described by John Dewey, which can account for how these find their development in social worlds.http://journals.openedition.org/sociologies/4921social worldexperiencecommunicationpragmatismGeorge Herbert MeadChicago sociology
