Summary: | In the past decades, there has been evidence on the relationship between Parkinson's disease (PD) and essential tremor (ET). In addition, PD frequently develops in already existing ET. The occurrence of PD in ET seems to be a problem of relevance, since the risk of PD is higher in patients with ET than that in the population. However, due to the lack of awareness about this nosological phenomenon among physicians, it can be difficult to formulate a diagnosis of PD that has developed in ET.This paper gives an update on the clinical, epidemiological, pathogenetic, and neuroimaging characteristics of ET concurrent with PD. |
