Summary:This work is part of the research project “Youthfaced withHistory”, whose goal is to address the current state of teaching and learning of History in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. The paper focuses its analysis on responses given to questions relating to military rule, democracy and the future of young people in a survey applied in 2008, among students between 15 and 16 years from different schools of Argentina, to verify their knowledge onthose concepts and on the role of History teaching in its construction. At the same time, class records from schools in the city of La Plata are used to qualitatively approach concrete procedures that control the practices of History teaching in classrooms. Finally, we engage ourselves in a dialogue with what we think is happening today among young people regarding politics.
