Description
Summary:Orientalising gold- and silver-working technology in the Iron Age Iberian Peninsula developed on a solid foundation of Atlantic gold-working traditions from the late Bronze Age. It was initially enriched by indigenous innovations and was eventually transformed in response to strong exogenous influences from the Mediterranean. This study retraces the origins and developments of gold-working technical know-how at a time marked by intense cultural exchanges and by major changes affecting societies and their identifies. The object is to highlight the mechanisms of transfer of technological, artistic and artisanal know-how among gold- and silversmiths from two different traditions and with two different cultural identities.
