Summary: | This paper presents the pedagogical model developed by the Italian priest João Bosco (1815-1888), and the associated praxis to such a model, from the point of view of a historical analysis that projects the life and formation context of the character. Such a model, called the Preventive System, was the foundation of an educational action that came to our days through the continuity of the work of Bosco, and that, in accordance with the conclusions of this work, can certainly be applied to contemporary educational processes. The affection and reason may be associated in the pedagogical actions, showing an interesting convergence to be exploited by the educators of our days.
