Description
Summary:In the article analyzed the Church-State relations in the Republic of Montenegro. That relations became the subject of wide discussion within the Christian community of Europe and in a wider political context since the end of 2019. It was then that the Montenegrin parliament ap- proved a Law on religion regarding the property of religious organizations. President of Montene- gro Milo Djukanovic called for the creation of an original «independent» Montenegrin church to decrease the influence of the dioceses of the Serbian Patriarchate in the republic. Civil actions of Orthodox people with the participation and under the leadership of church leaders did not allow the authorities to implement their religious policy. The church won this round of confrontation with the state, the new law was not implemented after the intervention of the EU Commissioner. At the same time, neither bright and respected church leaders, nor the general history of kindred peoples are able to stop the process of building a separate Montenegrin identity.
