After dealing with the limits of this territory, this article gives some proposals on the emergence of the qsûr and their typology. Their development as base units in the organization of local space could have been linked to the Banû Hilâl invasion, that seems to have pushed an important flow of Ibâḍî population towards this region, making it a major refuge for this minority in Ifrîqiyya.
