Summary:The analysis of the madrigal Moro lasso al mio duolo reveals the melancholic, thoughtful and grieving atmosphere, gene­rating shady, silent, sometimes dark soundscapes. Gesualdo shapes the poliphony through chromatic licenses, in order to create a tense musical discourse, permanently yearning for stability and balance amidst a harmonic construction lacking any attempt for resolution. Thus the strange harmonies of Gesualdo are shaped, giving birth to a unique musical style, full of dissonances and endless musical tension.
