VALIDATION OF A SCALE MEASURING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN LONG-TERM ORIENTATION, POLITICAL ORIENTATION, ENVIRONMENTAL PURCHASE INTENTIONS AND GREEN PURCHASE BEHAVIOUR

This paper outlines the procedure undertaken to validate a scale measuring therelationships between long-term and political orientation, and environmentalintentions and behaviour as a four dimensional structure in the South Africancontext. The data was gathered usin...

The data was gathered using a self-administered questionnaire from aconvenience sample of 329 students registered at four public higher educationinstitutions in South Africa. The four higher public institutions comprised oneuniversity of technology, one comprehensive university and two traditionaluniversities. The questionnaire consisted of scales intended to measure long-termorientation, political orientation, environmental purchase intentions and greenpurchase behaviour. Pearson’s Product-Movement correlation and structuralequation modelling were the methods of analysis of the captured data. Theproposed measurement model of long-term and political orientation, andenvironmental intentions and behaviour being a four dimensional structurerevealed good internal-consistency reliability, composite reliability and constructvalidity. Furthermore, AMOS produced a well-fitting model represented byacceptable goodness-of-fitindices. The results of the measurement model suggestthat long-term orientation, political orientation, environmental purchase intentionand green purchase behaviour are four suitable dimensions for the use of pathanalysis in structural equation modelling.http://www.sobiad.org/eJOURNALS/journal_IJSS/arhieves/IJSS2016_1/Paper75_Synodinos.pdf
