Certainly we are interested in limiting the patient's suffering and it is fundamental to accept his specific way of conceiving it, perhaps our first objective is to bring him to see, or rather to feel, that his problem is the result of a dysfunctional solution and offer him the possibility to change something. But a second and parallel objective has, in my opinion, an equally fundamental value. It disregards (even though it is closely connected to this one) the "dynamic" that determines and renews repetition, in order to aim at being able to feel the "consistency" of being, one's own "weight" in the world, to know that one is a unique and peculiar part of it: a living subject that "is" what it is, indeed: that "is" precisely because it is what it is. We aim therefore at a presence that is intimacy with the world, that is, a profound participation and, starting from the recognition and legitimation of one's own entire subjectivity, embodies it entirely in the world. https://www.pagepress.org/socialsciences/rp/article/view/212I-subjectsubjectivitygoals of careconsistency of beingpsychoanalysis and literature |
