Summary:Purpose: To analyze the impact of the modification of the "non-commercialization letter" in the operations of machinery and equipment importing companies in Nuevo León, Mexico. Design/Methodology: The research method employed was qualitative with a descriptive approach. The data collection instruments were a literature review and interviews with foreign trade experts. Findings: It was found that the aforementioned modification represents an obstacle in the operations of machinery and equipment importing companies in Nuevo León, Mexico because it causes delays and additional costs to them. Practical implications: To acknowledge the point of view of different agents regarding the government’s decision–making in matters pertaining to those agent’s economic activities. Originality/Value: This study presents different perspectives regarding the short-term impact of the modification of the “non-commercialization letter”, as well as its long-term implications.
