Description
Summary:This article aims to outline aspects concerning the Latin American literary concepts of Magic realism and Marvellous realism, as well as to compare the latter with the concept of Animist Realism. The work of Cuban writer Alejo Carpentier, The Kingdom of this World, concerning the Haitian Revolution, and the book by Angolan writer Pepetela, A geração da utopia, which addresses the Angolan War of Independence, will be used as examples, since they showcase some of the literary assumptions of their authors in regard to the Marvellous and Animist realism.
