We propose to discuss in this paper the “treason” theme presented in the play “Calabar, o elogio da traição”, by Chico Buarque and Ruy Guerra considering the French Discourse Analysis postulates. To achieve this purpose we observe the technique of collage used in it. The opening lines of the sixteenthcentury French philosopher Erasmus of Rotterdam’s Praise of folly (1509), which criticizes ecclesiastical corruption, the dogmatism of scholastic philosophy and superstition through an ostensible critic of reason, are used by Chico Buarque and Ruy Guerra to criticize the social behavior, in this case, the omission in view of the repression imposed by the dictatorial government. If there wasn’t the reframing, we could say that this technique of collage from Erasmus’ texts by Chico and Ruy’s one would be read as a betraying and treasonable attitude.
