Description
Summary:Thyroid hormones have cardiotropic impact. Their excess causes hyperfunction of heart, has a toxic effect on the heart muscle and the cardiovascular system. It is based on processes of hyperfunction, hypertrophy, degeneration and cardiosclerosis. The aim of the study – examining of tolerance to physical activity and severity of heart failure of patients with varying severity of toxic goiter and its changes against the background of thyreostatic therapy and after thyroidectomy. Materials and Methods. As an indicator of tolerance to physical activity and assessment of severity of heart failure we used performance 6-minute walk test. Results and Discussion. With increasing severity of hyperthyroidism the length of distance traveled rates of oxygen consumption, increase heart rate and respiratory rate is reduced. Under the influence of treatment improving of tolerance to physical activity occurs. Conclusions. 6-minute walk test objectively reflects the severity of heart failure and tolerance to physical activity. Promising research is to continue to examine predictors of forecasting long-term results of treatment of patients with toxic goiter.
