Some of these children are “only” observers of war despair or live their childhood as refugees or displaced persons; others become active participants as soldiers. Both categories are deeply sensible and vulnerable, as many negative factors can influence their psychophysical and social development. The activities of the UN main bodies (General Assembly, Security Council, Secretary-General), but also of some others, established only for the purpose to protect a child affected by armed conflict (e.g. Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict) are being known in this field since the beginning of last decade of the 20th century. However, despite earlier efforts, their more efficient cooperation and coordination in reporting and monitoring mechanism enforcement has being recognized in last ten years.http://hrcak.srce.hr/file/227398
