Description
Summary:The year 1959 is the first twinning between French Communist municipalities and East German cities under the auspices of the World Federation of Twin Cities. The Franco-German Exchanges (EFA) were created in 1958. The twinnings with the GDR and the EFA are controlled by the French Communist Party. The testimonies of French visitors to the GDR reflect very different impressions, from total seduction to rejection. East Germany tries to export until the disappearance in 1990 an image of socialist Bismarckism or Red Prussia: socialist and bourgeois ,democratic and authoritarian, pacifist and militarist against the so-called West German fascism.
