The author, while analysing students mistakes, states that the main criteria for selecting passive minimum of grammar must be the frequency of the subject and the possibilities of its usage in a definite text. The main factor for choosing active grammar minimum is communicative value of grammar. In the article it has been stated that different grammar exercises are needed for receptive and reproductive learning.
