Description
Summary:This paper focuses on the challenges of fundamental sciences departments in student recruitment by taking the employability agenda (particularly skills development) into consideration. In addition, this paper also exemplifies the similar cases from such countries as India and the UK. As a result, one of the main advantages owing the disciplines is to have healthy student-staff ratio. Said that, two main drawbacks are also available for the programmes; a high number of unemployed graduate students and non-employability-saturated curricula. Eventually, this paper brings a set of suggestions which might help the departments to sustain a healthy student intake in the near future.
