Summary:Pharmacopeia Navy work of Leandro de Vega, published in 1760 for use by physicians and surgeons of ships and hospitals in the Spanish Navy during the eighteenth century, is considered the first Spanish naval pharmacopoeia. The author defines a «catalog of drugs belonging to medical diseases» definitely a gazetteer of formulas for the preparation of medicines more useful for navigators of the time, both internal and external use. In this article is discussed at length this work, recognized its importance as a primary source, placing it in its historical context, detailing the content of the treaties and giving biographical note of the author and reporting of professional position and mission of its recipients.
