Summary: | Objective The objective of this research project is to find out what knowledge nurses have of the values and which of them are implemented when giving assistance in their work place. Materials and methods A transversal descriptive study was carried out, through the production of structured questionnaires/surveys. Inclusion criterion: having worked in health centres for a minimum of five years. Results 1. Development of care and values: Nurses think that both human values and technical aspects are developed in 86.7% of the cases, whilst 13.3% of them think that they only develop human values, no-one thinks that there are only technical issues involved in nursing care. 2. Prioritized values: Empathy, respect, humanity, technical and scientific knowledge, communication, hope, health education, equity, professionalism and use of own nursing work methodology, compassion, etc. A total of thirty five values have been prioritized by the nurses. Conclusions The nurses who participated have a similar working culture and also some similar common values, given that they have been working in health centres for quite a long time. Surveys on values do not evidentiate any behaviour, but what we can show is an awareness of the participants.
