After that it presents the possibilities of acquiring information important for planning the development of viticulture by searching LIS and perusing produced thematic maps. The essential data for designing the viticulture LIS included the soil, geological and topographic maps with contour equidistance of 10 and 5 m, and data on climatic parameters. Capability evaluation of vineyard soil was carried out according to the methodology of Kovačević et al. (1987) and Čorić (2001). The program packages AutoCad, Microstation, ArcInfo, ArcView and Access were used. Numerous information related to the vineyard soil capability, which can be quickly obtained by using the mentioned LIS, confirms the indispensability and justification of applying modern computer equipment, as well as of designing land information systems in planning the use and protection of valuable land resources.</p><p><br /><br /></p>http://kig.kartografija.hr/index.php/kig/article/view/438GIS technologycapability evaluationlandviticultureinformation system
