Description
Summary:Experts believe that self-monitoring of glycemia can prevent episodes of hypoglycemia, adapt the dose of drugs and the level of physical activity, and ensure the prevention of acute and late complications of diabetes. However, there is still disagreement over the need for and frequency of self-monitoring of glycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus on tableted and combination hypoglycemic therapy regimens. And the development of high-tech methods for managing glycemia in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus makes the prospects for using conventional self-monitoring methods dubious. The attitude of patients towards self-monitoring of glycemia remains controversial.
