Summary:As a social being, man must live in the community. Therefore students’ learning the principles and concepts of sociology seems to be a necessity that will help them to recognize the characteristics and conditions of the society and culture they live in, also they will be aware of the social problems. Since Layered curriculum method is student centered; activity based; aims to develop research and inquiry skills of the students and different areas of intelligence; regards individual differences. As a result use of layered curriculum method will make sociology courses more effective and efficient. Layered curriculum depends on the assumption that each individual/ learner has different areas of interest as well as different learning paths. Regarding the assumption above, layered curriculum is a way of arranging teaching by letting the learners undertaking individual responsibilities to obtain information; using the obtained information to solve problems; analyzing events in the light of data, putting forward new ideas and having the understanding of critical thinking. Layered curriculum depends on the understanding that each individual’s learning style, intelligence and reasoning differs from the other. It allows the student actively take place in learning process and activities which serves to a wide range of different learning styles and intelligence. Students are expected to reach specific goals through different activities.
