Description
Summary:Statistical Process Control (SPC) contains a collection of statistical tools used to monitor the processes and serves as a great aid to reduce variability. This study therefore presents the application of some of the tools proposed by SPC at an extinguisher company. More specifically, the most frequent defects and their quantity in the fire extinguisher maintenance process were evaluated. Assessment of the defects found identified that the excess load of 1 kg dry chemical extinguishers and class BC powder generated losses for the company. Furthermore, study of the process capacity ratios showed that the process was not able to achieve the limits specified by the owner. It should be noted that the software R to develop the study was used, generating additional costs to the company. This article presents the software routines used to create the charts, the problems encountered during the evaluation process of the company and the correction of inadequate processes.
