Description
Summary:The démarcation line of the 38th parallel north, set up by the Allied Powers in 1945, had been gradually transformed into a true border. After the Foundation of the two Korean States in 1948, this line separating Soviet and American competences became a real border wall, under military control, and the place of incidents. Many border incidents occurred there, along the line, or often, at Panmunjom, a small place where three armies are facing. In spite of about twenty border incidents or infiltration each year, it is worth to note, , looking backto the 60’s, the reduction of tensions there. Nowadays, the South Part of the Line is the theater of a new revolution in military affairs, through the installation of automatic gun-sentries and other semi-robot. However, the creation of a Special Economic Zone in Gaeseong, north of the Line, with South Korean Investments, seems to be a significant step, able to appease a little the mutual distrust existing.
