Description
Summary:Klingberg was awarded his PhD in 1964 with the first doctoral thesis in Sweden on children’s literature, Swedish Literature for Children and Young People 1591–1839. The influence of Klingberg’s thesis and extensive continued research is inestimable. He was the first to systematize and classify Swedish publications in children’s literature. Another scholar of Swedish children’s literature, Stefan Mählqvist, has aptly described Klingberg as ”the Carolus Linnaeus of research in Swedish children’s literature.”
