Description
Summary:The essay contributes to widen the study concerning Bologna's University History of XVII century, analising Luigi Manzini's and Matteo Peregrini's biographies, persons of letters and intellectuals, who were really important in their contemporary cultural background. In particular, it focuses on them as Bologna University hopeful readers. Their experiences were close in time, but totally apart one from the other. They have been put together in this study because they both convey the idea of how strong was the influence of patronage relationship between intellectuals and powerful men on Bologna's academic life. According to Peregrini's case, these relationships could have even involved “Repubblica” of Bologna and roman ruling class.
