| Summary: | The title compound, C18H20O4, was synthesized by the reaction of 4-methoxybenzaldehyde, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione and 5,5-dimethylcyclohexane-1,3-dione with triethylbenzylammonium chloride in water as a green solvent. In the molecule of the title compound, the six-membered pyranone ring of the hexahydrocoumarin system has a screw-boat conformation while that of the dimethylcyclohexenone system has a distorted envelope conformation. The CMe2 portion of this ring is disordered over two positions with refined occupancies of 0.721 (7) and 0.279 (7). |
