This review examines the environmental relationship of organizations in the scope of adaptation and selection processes in organizational theories. Specifically, we focus on four organizational theories: population ecology, institutional theory, resource dependence, and contingency theory. First, we explain the main assumptions and criticisms of the four theories. We also outline how adaptation and selection dynamics influence organizations in their environment. Then, we examine complementary aspects of the adaptation and selection processes based on organizational theories. Lastly, we discuss the benefits and limitations of the integrated adaptation and selection process and provide insight for future studies.http://betadergi.com/yoad/yonetim/icerik/makaleler/73-published.pdfadaptationselectionpopulation ecologyinstitutional theoryresource dependence theorycontingency theory |
