Summary: | This article aims to analyze the dynamics of people management throughout the course of a petrochemical industry guided by the major landmarks experienced by the company. It examines the institutional perspective and also the strategic approach to people management by the perspective of members of the organization, looking to see how they understand the policies and human resource practices adopted throughout the company's trajectory. The research is qualitative and the method used was case study. The results show that the dynamics inorganizations is far less predictable or "planable” in terms ofproposals for policy strategies and practices in people management. The study warns professionals who seek permanent, as in a flight, register, process, analyze, and especially to propose alternatives that are aligned to the organization changing in a structured wayin order to avoid possible disturbances. Given the above, the relevance of this study is to reflect and to extend the studies on practices and policies of Personnel Management, especially of the need for HR position themselves strategically, adopting a more organic and less operational model.
