Summary:The article researches the fate of Valentin Berezhkov’s rapid rise and tragic life events. In 1938 he graduated from Kiev Polytechnic Institute, then became a career diplomat, an international affairs journalist, doctor of history, member of the Union of Soviet Writers, and participated as a translator in the preparation and signing of the non-aggression pact between Germany and the Soviet Union. Valentin Berezhkov is known for his books «Tehran-43», «How I Became Stalin’s Translator», «Pages of Diplomatic History» and others.
