Summary:Intepe is important in the history of archaeological studies in Troia. The house of Calvert Family in Intepe was used from the middle of the nineteenth century onward as a research center for the archaeological studies in the region. Moreover, Intepe was an important source of workers for several researchers working in the region: the British engineer Brunton who first conducted excavations at Troia in 1856, Schliemann and others depended on Intepe for workers. In fact almost all workers in Schliemann’s excavations in Troia came from Intepe. In short, Intepe played a pivotal role in that archaeological studies in the region since it supplied workforce for the excavations from the 19th century until now.
