This essay intends to analyze the short story Sorco, sua me, sua filha, by Joo Guimares Rosa, included in his book Primeiras Estrias, through the characters path towards madness. It is planned to evidence his trajectory, branded by the agony, ending in a fragmentation process, conducting him to the recognition of the Other. From this, it is showed how the thematic seen inserts Rosas production into the universal, without leaving the particular.
