Thus, numerous highly valued archaeological collections were formed. The Second World War was followed by a decline, which is now superseded by a significant upturn. Over time a lot has happened and changed. The rapid development of technology in the recent decades has left its effects also in the field of archaeology and has contributed to its modernisation. In this paper the role of the University of Archaeological Collections, in teaching, research and public, will be presented. This will be demonstrated with the case study of Graz.
