Description
Summary:The Russian economist Tugan-Baranovsky (1865-1919) published in 1899 an entry on the development of the “Russian economic science” for the first universal Russian encyclopedia, Brockhaus-Efron. Tugan-Baranovsky’s story is introduced as a chronological catalogue of Russian economists and their works throughout the nineteenth century, and represents one of the first attempt at writing a history of Russian economic thought. The relevance of this entry becomes evident when one considers the existence of such a “national” science of political economy. We present here a French translation of this text, never translated from the Russian, alongside with notes on the authors and works reported.
