Methods: An exploratory research with a qualitative and descriptive approach, held in municipality in the Central region of Rio Grande do Sul, from September to October 2015, with the participation of 12 nurses. Semi-structured interviews were used to produce the data and the thematic content analysis to analyze. Results: In general, the developed activities are individual, focusing mostly on the biologicals aspects. The nurses recognize the need of a systematization of the activities since they point out future plans. There are still some difficulties that make it arduous the carrying out of activities. Conclusion: Reproductive planning doesn’t take place the way it is recommended, not depending on only the nurse. It’s necessary to undertake efforts where the management of health services, together with professionals committed to sexual and reproductive health, commit to develop reproductive planning spaces as a tool for health promotion.https://periodicos.ufsm.br/reufsm/article/view/25777enfermagemplanejamento familiarsaúde da mulher
