Summary: | The purpose of this paper is to characterize the interdisciplinary nature of Computer Science Education as an epistemic category that emerges strongly both in academia and as a social practice in diverse educational contexts. We begin by establishing the components of the category and then present arguments supporting their interactions and their location in a theoretical space delimited by the supra-categories “knowledge society” and “lifelong learning”. In addition, possible research approaches for generating and developing theory in this field are proposed. |
