Description
Summary:Despite achievements in the treatment, living with HIV still impose challenges due to the psychological and social impact. This study aimed conduct a review of the literature on psychological interventions in HIV/Aids. A review of studies published between 1998-2009 identified 61 interventions that were analyzed and classified according to their goals. The interventions aimed at changes in three areas: 1) Emotional/psychosocial, 2) Behavioral, 3) Biological. Positive results were identified among the interventions which aimed changes in the emotional/psychosocial and behavioral areas. It was found an increase in the number of publications in recent years, showing more attention to these interventions. Gaps are discussed, including the need for further Brazilian studies and expansion of interventions to different populations living with HIV.
