Summary:The objective was apply a didactic methodology,directed to physical therapy students fromUniversidad del Rosario, Colombia, in thepromotion and prevention practice. The purposeis to enhance the students actions in communityhealth education.Methodology: The project included three phases:the theoretical review of the professor’s competitionsin the practice and of the methodsemployed to develop promotion and preventionactions in community work; the developmentof a methodology and its application to thestudents, and finally the evaluation and analysisof the information.Results: When compared with other teachingexperiences, the didactic methodology proved betterthan other methodologies to develop competencesin students working with population groups.Conclusions: The application of a didacticmethod in practices favors the student acquisition of pedagogical tools and improves its performancein the development of the programmedactivities.
