Summary:Aim: This research was conducted to examine the empathic tendencies of university students in terms of different variables.Methods: The study was conducted on over 200 students, 116 males (58.0%) and 84 females (42.0%). The empathic tendency scale (ETS)to measure the empathic tendencies of students empathic tendency scale developed by Dokmen (1988) was used. Reliability of the scale was measured with Chronbach Alpha (α=0.56). The collected data were analyzed and normal distribution was determined. For this reason, statistical analysis was performed with parametric test methods.Results: According to the research findings, there was a statistically significant difference between the students' classes and empathic tendencies (p=0.01; <0.05). The difference between the groups was determined by Tukey test (p=0.01; <0.05). According to this, 4th class (65.51±8.23) empathic tendencies of students were more than the students of 3rd class (60.54±7.82).Conclusion: There has been a difference between the classes of the students and the empathic tendencies. There was no statistically significant difference between gender, age, division and perceived income. The relationship between descriptive traits and empathic tendencies of the students was examined and no statistically significant relationship was found.
