Description
Summary:This paper is part of my doctoral thesis project named Non-hegemonic sexual identities in the Argentine cinema: confrontation between psychoanalysis, gender studies, and hermeneutics. The aim of this research advance is to discuss some hypotheses that are supported by a large part of the psychoanalysis of Lacanian orientation —being J-A. Miller and Eric Laurent their main exponents— in relation to the inexistence of the Other, the fall of the father, and the master signifiers —those commonly utilized to explain diverse symptoms and social problems—. In the light of claims that various sexual minorities carry out in our contemporaneity, and taking some references from Judith Butler and Michel Foucault, the purpose of this paper is to question such hypotheses in order to expand the scope of analysis in this regard.
