Departament d'Historia de l'Art<p>The chapel of the Citadel of Barcelona (1717-1729) was the first building that bore the influence of some structural and ornamental typological models, in both ground plan and elevation designs from Flanders and France within the XVIIIth century Catalonian architectural context. While foreign contributions were introduced by <em>ingeniero general</em> Jorge Próspero Verboom's plannings, material building was carried out by native professionals. They used traditional Catalonian contructive techniques but always worked under mitlitary engineers' agreement and supervision led by Alejandro de Rez. Continuity of Flemish models was slight. However typologies coming from XVIII-Century French architectural Classicism did influence several building enterprises in XVIIIth-Century Catalonia.</p>https://revistes.uab.cat/locus/article/view/38arquitectura, clasicismo, cataluña
