Summary: | In the context of economic globalization, the need for high quality financial information has become a
desiderate. Accounting met such needs through a set of high quality standards, the International Financial Reporting
Standards. Their global imposing, either through adoption or convergence, make its contribution to proper functioning
of capital markets and even of the entire economy. The quality of financial reporting, however, is the result of how they
are applied in each country or company. The objective of our study is to analyze the disclosure level of companies
listed at Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) in compliance with the presentation requirements of the international
accounting standard IAS 38 “Intangible assets”. The empirical study revealed a significant level of non-compliance. In
order to determine the degree of compliance with international accounting referential we built a disclosure index. Four
hypothesis were tested in order to identify the factors that influence the disclosure level.
