Description
Summary:Investigation of total ammonia removal was carried out in nine primary facultative ponds, in Fortaleza, Northeast Brazil. Average removal was 23%. Findings showed that applied aereal and volumetric loadings are suitable for modeling in accordance with dominant geo-environmental characteristics of the region. All ponds had effluent quality in disagreement with the environmental legislation. High pH and temperature caused higher concentration of non-ionized ammonia in the treated effluent compared with that in raw sewage.
