Summary: | Case studies have gained popularity among Educational Technology
researchers in Portugal, as we could verify in a broad survey of Portuguese
scholarly publications in the educational field. Although it is recognised as a
methodological framework with enormous possibilities for research in ET,
producing precious insights in technological learning environments, it can led,
if deficiently conducted, to irrelevant and sterile conclusions. In this article we
will caracterize case study methodology, discuss its power as well as its limits,
analyse some cases concerning ET research in Portugal, and point out for
criteria of quality tin order to maximize its value and credibility.
