Summary: | Market economic analysis of food products in Burundi. Time series analysis of bean prices. Based on a time serie of bean prices on the main markets in Burundi (1972-1980), this study aims at identifying the trend, seasonal variations and cyclus in price variations. With this object, statistical models (Cochrane-Orcutt) and mathematical models have been used. However, long term previsions can only be established along the trend, on account of uncertainties about climate and political events. Seasonal variations are quite important and are increasing through time, announcing more difficulties on the markets before the harvesting period. Moreover, seasonal variations are moving within the year in relation with changes in rain distribution.
