Description
Summary:Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is characterized by chronic airflow limitation that is not fully reversible. Patients often present exercise intolerance, dyspnea and poorer quality of life. Objective: To evaluate the correlation of spirometric variables, functional capacity and i-BODE index with quality of life in patients with COPD. Methods: Cross-sectional study carried out in the Laboratory of Functional Assessment of Respiratory, Uninove. The 23 patients with COPD underwent the following evaluations: medical history, quality of life and dyspnea, spirometry, body composition and incremental shuttle walk test. Results: There was a significant correlation between SF-36 and AQ-20 with pulmonary function, the walking distance and the i-BODE, and the variables that presented more membership contribution to quality of life were BMI, fat mass, FEV1, walking distance and i-BODE index. Conclusions: Patients with COPD with more impaired quality of life have greater impairment of lung function, reduced exercise capacity and poor survival.
